About

The One Hour Bookkeeper's Mission: Our mission at the One Hour Bookkeeper is simple.  We are here to educate Small Business Owners (SBOs) and Bookkeepers about the Common Bookkeeping Mistakes that lead to the ruination of a business.  We do this by teaching time-saving (and thus money-saving) bookkeeping techniques that can save a company thousands of dollars a year, must-know information for any bookkeeper or SBO, tips to identify and prevent embezzlement early on, and ways to deal with the IRS without "losing your shirt".  We further believe that The Bookkeeping Industry is Changing, and so we do our best to help our readers prepare for those changes through knowledge.

"Betty Bookkeeper" is a fictional character whose main job is to lie, cheat and steal until a Small Business Owner either loses his shirt, or nails her hide to the wall.  She is not an evil person - in fact she's very easy to trust - but she works with a lot of money and that money is tempting.  She knows she's paid less than any other employee in the company, so she figures there's nothing wrong with skimming a little off the top.  It's only when she's caught that she'll finally realize just how much she embezzled.  She's been stealing for years, but has never served jail time, and the company she's working for is not the first company that she steals from.  Read about her exploits under "Diary of a Bad Bookkeeper."

As far as contacting Betty... don't bother.  She doesn't care for emails, nor does she respond to them.  But you can read more of her diary entries here.

The Relationship: E.T. Barton and Robin Davis met back in 1976, shortly after Robin's "water broke."  That's right, E.T. and Robin are mother and daughter and Robin was all of 5 years old at the time (or at least that's the story Robin's sticking to!).  Both mother and daughter got into bookkeeping shortly after high school, and through the years, they have encouraged each other to begin their own bookkeeping companies.  Since E.T's passion lies in writing, and Robin's lies in bookkeeping, they've decided to team up so that they could share their collective knowledge in a way that is simple and/or entertaining for SBOs and Bookkeepers.

How We Make A Living: Both E.T. Barton and Robin E. Davis run their own businesses from which they draw an annual income.  Any money made from this blog will be derived from PPC advertisements, eBooks, and video sales.

We have finally launched our first video: "The One Hour Bookkeeping Method:  How to do your books in one hour or less with QuickBooks". We have also created many eBooks related to various bookkeeping and business topics.  If you are interested in being notified of the release of these products, please join our newsletter subscription list.  (Just keep in mind - we only send one newsletter every couple months, and an extra themed one every now and then.)
